Among the many benefits of home schooling is the lack of the burnout that plagues a fair number of traditionally schooled kids. Home schooled kids are often allowed to follow their own interests and learn skills that support those interests, instead of learning skills for the sake of learning skills. They have been allowed to learn “in the field” or in their pjs on the couch, instead of being dragged out of bed every morning to sit inside classrooms all day. This U.S. News and World Report article indicates that there are extended benefits to not being regimented and confined.
